Line Failure Localization of Power Networks Part I: Non-Cut Outages

چکیده
Transmission line failures in power systems propagate non-locally, making the control of resulting outages extremely difficult. In this work, we establish a mathematical theory that characterizes patterns failure propagation and localization terms network graph structure. It provides novel perspective on distribution factors precisely captures Kirchhoff's Law topological structures. Our results show specific collections subtrees transmission plays critical role redistribution, motivates block decomposition as structure to understand long-distance disturbances. Part I paper, present case when post-contingency remains connected after an initial set lines are disconnected simultaneously. II, outage separates into multiple islands.

Power Line Communications : An Overview - Part I Muhammad
We give an overview of the Power Line Communications (PLC) technology, its importance, its standards and an overview of the HomePlug standards associated with it. This is done is two parts due to publication constraints. In this part, we will concentrate on the PLC applications and the technical issues regarding it. We will also see the layers and methods that are needed to make it work.
متن کاملUsing Neural Networks to Detect Line Outages from PMU Data
We propose an approach based on neural networks and the AC power flow equations to identify singleand doubleline outages in a power grid using the information from phasor measurement unit sensors (PMUs). Rather than inferring the outage from the sensor data by inverting the physical model, our approach uses the AC model to simulate sensor responses to all outages of interest under multiple dema...
متن کاملPower outages, power externalities, and baby booms.
Determining whether power outages have significant fertility effects is an important policy question in developing countries, where blackouts are common and modern forms of family planning are scarce. Using birth records from Zanzibar, this study shows that a month-long blackout in 2008 caused a significant increase in the number of births 8 to 10 months later. The increase was similar across v...
متن کاملTesting branching process estimators of cascading failure with data from a simulation of transmission line outages.
We suggest a statistical estimator to quantify the propagation of cascading transmission line failures in large blackouts of electric power systems. We use a Galton-Watson branching process model of cascading failure and the standard Harris estimator of the mean propagation modified to work when the process saturates at a maximum number of components. If the mean number of initial failures and ...
متن کاملBipartition of graphs based on the normalized cut and spectral methods, Part I: Minimum normalized cut
The main objective of this paper is to solve the problem of finding graphs on which the spectral clustering method and the normalized cut produce different partitions. To this end, we derive formulae for minimum normalized cut for graphs in some classes such as paths, cycles, complete graphs, double-trees, lollipop graphs LPn,m, roach type graphs Rn,k and weighted paths Pn,k.
